Beach Hunting in the North Coast of the Dominican Republic

Dominican Republic is well known and mostly visited for its beautiful long beaches with clear blue water and white sand, but because of the accessibility of some of the  beaches people always visit the same places.

I wanted to have a different experience so I decided to go beach hunting and sure thing that was the best experience of my life, I have met so many different places and seen breathtaking landscapes, That has made me fall more in love with the D.R.

This is the list of the top places I met!

Starting on the west borderline with Haiti I Found Monte Cristi, a Small city where there are not many tourist. There is a few places that are amazing and you should not miss when visiting.

Playa El Morro, Montecristi

  • Playa el morro
  • Isla Cabra
  • Playa Punta Rucia
  • Playa Buen Hombre

I decided to continue the trip from west to east through the coast and the next city in line is Puerto Plata, What a beautiful place full of nice people and the beaches are just incredible and completely different from the previous town, here is a few of the ones that took my breath away.

Cayo Arena

  • Cayo Arena
  • Playa el breton
  • Playa Grande
  • Playa Encuentro
  • Playa de los Muertos

We kept rolling until founding the next town, Nagua, it’s not very well known even by dominicans but in my opinion is totally worth visiting.

What you should not miss:

Playa Diamante

The last stop was at Samana, I had heard many good things about this place but it was all short to the truth, it was great to see the contrast between the towns and the beaches, the amazing sweet people who were so helpful, all the beaches there were gorgeous, blue water, long ways full of sand and lots of vegetation.

My favourite spots? Pretty hard to pick but these ones definitely exceeded in beauty.

Playa Moron, Las Terrenas

Playa Moron

Cayo Levantado

Playa Las Ballenas

Playa Esperanza

Playa Fronton

Playa Coson

My trip to the D.R. Ended but my love for the island is still going… hopefully next time I will have time to visit other hidden spots not only beaches.

I recommend you to make your own list as this is very personal, to what i like in a beach or in a place and the connection i felt when visiting these places.
